Okay, so this is a tutorial on how to make your own utauloid and how to make the program UTAU English. First off, to you new creators out there, do not make your characters look like vocaloids; it's stupid and not very creative. Make your own designs. What you'll need is a microphone, a program that records, and a folder with the name of your UTAUloid. You'll also need to know how to pronounce the language you want to do.

Since my utauloid is Japanese, most of my helping will lean towards the Japanese voice bank making. Your recordings need to clear and not too loud. This is just a rumor that I've been hearing, but apparently if you make your recordings 5 seconds long, then your utauloid will sound good. Idk if that's true but just make sure that your recordings aren't too short and not too long. Notice that once u have stopped recording you'll see a line or no sounds. They show up when u haven't recorded something or you're finished. Please remove those so that only you recordings stay. You'll need to export these files as a wav into your UTAUloid's folder.

Saving each file is not required but if you want to be safe, save them in a different folder. Once you've done that, you'll need to now download the program UTAU. If you want to make your life easy, download the res folder to make UTAU English. I have provided. If you have the UTAU program already, make sure it's the recent updated version. Then you'll need to download and extract the res folder inside of the UTAU folder.

Here is the link to the res folder:www.4shared.com/file/PnumbHin/… (EDIT: Warning, Uploader has removed necessary file to make UTAU english. See Picture tutorial for the needed file.)

Do you see a file that says: $read  ?if not, open the res folder. You'll see another folder that says res. Drag that out into your UTAU folder. Now you should see the file $read.NOTE: Do not do anything more to this file; leave it alone and open UTAU as normal. Go ahead and open UTAU. It should be in English now. If not, then something is wrong.  Now let's make an oto ini. Oto ini is sort of like a list of all of your recordings and how long your UTAUloid will sing a certain letter(s). To do this, you'll need to open UTAU, go to Project, then select project properties. A small box will come up. click the tine box that has '...' near the Voice Bank area. You'll need to select a wave file from your UTAUloid's voice bank folder. Once you have done that, select ok. Go to Tools and select voice bank settings.  You will see that off to the right side there is something that says wav name, alias, offset, consonant, cutoff, preutterance, and overlap. It's very important to assign a alias to all wave names that show up. If you don't, and you try to have your utauloid sing, it won't happen. So assign them. Also, assign numbers to the consonant, offset, preutterance, and overlap.

This is a good website to learn how to make an oto ini. :camilamelodia.blogspot.com/201…

When you have finished fixing your oto ini., then your UTAUloid should be able to sing clearly and good :)

Next up, I had do I get an UTAUloid to sing a song?

Well, you'll need a ust file or song file of the song you like.

A long list of song usts can be downloaded here:vocalochu.blogspot.com/2009/12…

Take note that the song file that you open up will show up in weird symbols. This is okay. If you double click the symbol, you'll see a Japanese letter. If all of you alias is in an English letter(s) then you'll need to replace those Japanese letters with their correct english counter part. For example: If you double click and get the Japanese symbol for the letter 'a' replace it with the English letter 'a'.

This website is a good place too see what each Japanese symbol is:www.freejapaneselessons.com/le…

once you have done that, highlight the entire song and press the triangle button at the top. It'll take a moment for the program to register everything before it actually plays, so don't be alarmed if you see a black box pop up.

Mess around with the voice level if you are a girl, set the song to a low level ( like B3 or something) and you'll get a male  sounding voice. This is called gender bending. You can also set the song higher if you want; experiment :)
